FRIDAY, AUG. 6 7:26 a.m. — A Union County sheriff ’s deputy responded to Walmart, 11619 Island Ave., Island City, on a report of a found child. The child and parents were reunited, and the deputy counseled the parents. 7:41 a.m. — A caller reported the theft of an off -road vehicle from the 200 block of West Beakman Street, Union. A Union County sheriff ’s deputy took a report. 10:03 a.m. — A caller reported a possible assault on the 1400 block of Court Avenue, La Grande. Offi cers responded and deter- mined this was a case of harassment, but the situation did not rise to the level of a mandatory arrest. 4:10 p.m. — A caller reported a suspicious package on the 2200 block of 26th Street, La Grande. An offi cer responded and deter- mined the item to be garbage. 11:56 p.m. — La Grande police responded to the 300 block of Third Street for a domestic disturbance. Police arrested Joan Rachel Pehrson, 27, for felony domestic violence. SATURDAY, AUG. 7 12:09 a.m. — A caller complained about loud noise at a resi- dence on the 1600 block of Albany Street, La Grande. An offi cer responded, and the subject turned down the music. 2:10 a.m. — La Grande police responded to the 1600 block of M Avenue on a report of a loud party. The subjects turned off the music. 2:12 a.m. — A caller reported loud music on the 200 block of Depot Street, La Grande. Offi cers responded and told the subject to turn down the music. 11:24 a.m. — A caller reported animal neglect at Birnie Park, La MEETINGS • PENDLETON — The Board of Directors of the Inter- Mountain Education Service District meets for a regular session at noon Wednesday, Aug. 11, at the IMESD, 2001 SW Nye Ave., Pendleton. On the agenda is discussion of the Fall 2021 COVID Safety Plan revision. • IMBLER — A special meeting of the Imbler School District Board of Directors will be held Thursday, Aug. 12, to discuss reopening plans for the upcoming school year. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. in the high school gym. There will be opportunity for public input, and all are wel- come to attend this open session. BRIEFS La Grande School District hosts registration and resource fair LA GRANDE — The La Grande School District Stu- dent Registration and Resource Fair will be Thursday, Aug. 12, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at La Grande Middle School. The fair is for all La Grande School District K-12 students and their families. The registration portion will be available for new stu- dents in kindergarten through eighth grade. New stu- dents at La Grande High School need to register at LHS on Aug. 19-20. Students who are new to the district and have already registered do not need to re-register at this event. Parents of new students who are not able to attend the fair may register their students at any La Grande School Dis- trict school after Aug. 13. Many local agencies and resources will be available at the Resource Fair. The goal is to support students and parents with useful information as they prepare to return to school. There will be LGSD program representatives, a clothing closet with gently used clothing for students, school supplies, and much more. Logan Edward Singer November 21, 2003 - July 9, 2021 Logan Edward Singer, age 17, died Friday, July 9, 2021. Logan is survived by his par- ents, Brian and Brandy; his younger sister, Natalie; grandparents Marsha VanWagoner, John and Sherri Singer, Paul and Joyce Fothergill; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Logan was born on November 21st, 2003. From the moment he was born he brought tremendous joy to his parents and will forever be in their hearts. He was his dad’s buddy. He and his mom shared the same witty, dry sense of humor and love of 80s music and Monty Python movies. He was a wonderful older brother to his sister Natalie. Logan was an outstanding student. He had a love of learning, especially when it came to computer science. Logan was loyal, funny, goofy, kind, creative and thoughtful. Logan was a great friend and loved playing video games with his friends. Logan’s favorite holiday was the 4th of July, as he loved fireworks and setting up amazing fireworks displays. Logan expecially loved celebrating the 4th at his family’s cabin on the Pend Oreille River. A celebration of life was held at Redeemer Lutheran Church, on Saturday, July 24th, 2021, in Spokane Valley, Washington. In lieu of flowers or gifts, Logan’s family requests that donations be made to Forefront in the Schools Support Fund, or a mental health support organization of your choosing.
